Notarisation

“Notarisation”, “certification”, “authentication”, “attestation”: these are all words frequently used in relation to the services of a notary. They all refer to a process required to enable documents to be accepted abroad by courts, registries and other public bodies or contractual partners. The notary is the professional overseas authorities and parties rely on to verify or prove the proper execution of legal documents.

English notaries owe duty of care to persons in all jurisdictions who may place legitimate reliance on their notarial acts. For this reason, a notary must require to see various documents before proceeding to notarisation. Signatories must always produce evidence of their identity such as a passport and, if they are acting on behalf of another person or an entity, also evidence of their authority to do so.

Greenfield Notary offers notarial certification of documents for private and corporate clients, for anynotary public city of london jurisdiction worldwide. We aim to ensure that the document and the notarial certificate meet the particular requirements of the country where it is to be used. This includes arranging on request for Apostille and legalisation of the document, which is done by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and/or the consulate or embassy of the relevant country.

We offer digital notarisation of documents with a qualified electronic signature (QES), which has been registered with the Foreign Office, so any digitally notarised document can obtain e-Apostille. Due to technological developments in recent years, this type of notarisation is increasingly getting recognised in many jurisdictions. However, the intended recipient’s requirements in each particular case must be checked carefully to ensure compliance.

The form of the notarial certificate, the evidence that must be produced to the notary, as well as the overall cost and the time it takes for the document to be ready all vary according to the type of document and the country where it is to be used.
